DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the ’Trustees was held in the Committee Room, Town Hall, on Monday, the 3rd inst. Present: Messrs Jas. Hickson (Chairman), Jeffery, Macgeorge, Stevens, and Joss. The minntes of previous meehug were read and confirmed. Correspondence, including telegrams from the Government asking the amount of subsidy it was thought would ha required timing the current year; also a letter in reply to application forsubsidy on subscriptions and amount from District Board, to the effect that subsidy on subscriptions had been paid separately, as there may ba some question as to the payment of subsidy on -amount received from the District Board. The correspondence was received, and it was resolved—That the Secretary renew the application for the subsidy on the District Board’s money, pointing out at same time, that the Trustees on the faith of the Act being adhered to by the Government;, had entered into responsibilities, and trusted that the Government would see its way clear to pay the amount at an early date. The Water Supply Committee reported that a tender had- been accepted for the supply of black pine slabs for the shaft, and had called for tenders for sinking the shaft. The Visiting Committee, Messrs Stevens nnl Joss, reported that during tie past month they had visited the Institution several times, and as authorised Jast meeting, had arranged for the effecting o£ the necessary’ repairs and for supplying those articles of furniture that were required. They further reported that the Surgeon’s residency was badly in need of heingpainted, and recommended that it be done. The report was received, but after consideration it was decided to defer the painting of the Surgeon’s residence till after the winter. Report No. 2, recommending navment of accounts for salaries, supp'ies, art-l furnb ture for the past man hj, amounting to Lb3 2s 10d, was read and received. The Treasurer’s report, showing a credit cash balance in hand of L 217 12* 3 t. and snhsidv due of Llsl 8s 7d, was read and received. The Surgeon’s report was read and received. The Snb Committee appointed to ascertain the position of the Trustees regarding the recommendation of the old Committee to award the Treasurer a bonus for past efficient services rendered, reporled that from advice taken in the matter the Trustees regretted their inabiiity to carry out the recommendation. A tender (the only one) for sinking the shaft, in connection with the initiate! water scheme, of R. Holden, was opened and accented. The Treasurer and Secretary were author lard to make an inventory of all the property and moveables belonging or connected with the Institution.

The Buh Committee appointed to prepare bye-laws in terms of Section 62 of the Act, brought up a code which wete read and in the main agreed to. It was afterwards resolved that tho Trustees meet again on JHonday, the 17’h inst., to revise aud pass them.

The Secretary was instructed to place himself in communication with the Government with the vinw of obtaining a title to the Hospital Reserve. Resolved—That Messrs Jeffery and Joss bo the Visiting Committee for the month of Mav.

The meeting then adjourned till Monday, the 17th, at 8 p.m.
