BOROUGH OF ALEXANDRA.

The ordinary mee'iog of the Alexandra Borough Council was held on We Inesaay, 3rd inst. Present—Crs Gards, Thompson, They era, Tohill, and Fraser. In the absence of the Mayor, Cr. Theyers was elected ■ hairman. The minutes of the last meeting were read and continued. The inward correspondence, consisting of letters from J. E. Thompson tendering his resignation as Councillor for Clntha Ward ; from H. Schauman, asking permission to lay a pipe from the race in the Recreation Reserve to his premises ; from Mrs Cameron re leakage from the water channel into her cellar ; and circulars front the E lucation Board re aid by local ho lies to ereciion and maintenance of school buildings ; and from the Secretary to the United Charitable Aid Board aski"g returns of rateable value of property in the Borough, was read and recei ed. Pr .posed by Cr Gards, seconded by Cr Tohill—That the resignation of Councillor Thompson be accepted. —Carried. Proposed by CrGaids, seconded by Cr Fraser—That the Town Clerk be instructed to reply to Mr Schauman that he must obtain his supply of water from the race provided for supplying the residents on the west side of Crookhaven street.—Carried. It was resolved that the consideration of Mrs Cameron's letter be postponed till the next meeting of the Council, the Works Committee to inspect the premises in the meantime, and bring up a report. With reference to the letter from the Secretary to the Charitable Aid Board, the Town Clerk stated that he had already furnished the information required. Some' small accounts were passed' for payment, and the meeting concluded with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
