CAMBRIANS.

(From our own Correspondent). July 7. Mr Matthew Burnett addressed a crowded meeting in the schoolroom here last night. The Rev. Mr Henry occupied the chair, and in a few well chosen remarks briefly introduced the lecturer who, as he said, required very little introduction, his fame having gone befoie him. As his subject pictures for the evening Mr Burnett chose “ Honest John,” “ Steve and Janet,” and the * * Excused Clergyman,” and succeeded in thoroughly interesting his audience as well as amusing them, for amusing certainly some ot his sketches were, Mr Burnett’s physiognomy at once assures the observer that he will be thoroughly in earnest in anything he undertakes, and in earnest he certainly is in the cause of temperance, which no .doubt is the cause of his great success as a lecturer. A very efficient choir ably asslated in making the evening pas agreeably by their beautiful rendition of some of those pleasant melodies of Sammy's. At the close of the address a goodly number donned the “bit of blue,” but it cannot be said that the meeting was at all as enthusiastic as these meetings are generally reported to be. A hearty vote of thanks to tho choir, chairman, and lecturer brought the meeting to a close. A collection was made in the room to defray expenses. * During his stay in Cambrians Mr Burnett was the guest of Mr and Mrs Davis of this place.
