PRIDE OF THE VALLEY LODGE. 1.0. G.T., IDA VALLEY.

(From a Correspondent). The quarterly meeting of the Pride of the Valley Lodge, No. 171, 1.0. G.T., was held at the lodge room, schbolhonse, Ida Valley, on Saturday evening. May 23. The Lodge Deputy, Bco. Alexander Mclntosh, ably assisted by I ro. Robert Meintosh, G.W.M., installed the officers for the enining quarter. In consequence of onr concert occurring at the beginning of the month, we had to defer the installing to a later date. With regard to tbe position and prospects of the lodge, I cannot help but write in a happy and hopeful manner. The success of the Lodge is mainly due to the regular attendance of the members at our meetings, and the interest taken by them in the welfare of the lo ige. The quarterly reports show that we are both numerically and financially in a very pleasing position. At the close of last quarter we show a roll of 30 members and a credit balance of LI6. Ihe public seem glad to notice the lodge by the manner in which at every meeting we get candidates for initiation. We have had during the quarter the pleasure of getting eight new members, and at our last meeting we initiated two new members, trusting to get more next night. The following members were duly installed to the respective offices of the lodge, viz : W.C.T., Bro. Farrell, (fourth term): W.V.T., Sis. Hodge ; W.S., Bro B tting : W.A.S,, Bro. W Noon ; W.C., Sis. Mclntosh ; W.F S., Bto Nicholson ; W.T., Bro. A. Mclntosh; W.1.G., 80, Barrowciiffe ; W.0.G., Bro. Jenkins, (re elected); W.M., Bro. Mcßrien; W.D M., Bro. Limbers; W.R.H.S., Bro. John Noon; W.L.H.S., Sis, MoAddie ; P. W.0.T., Bro. Brotherstone. After the installing was over, Bro. rarrell, W.C.T., thanked the lodge for conferring for tbe fourth time the honorable position of W.O.T on him, as well as for their continued confidence in him. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed and carried to the installing officers for the able manner in which they carried out their duties.

I cannot close my report without writing on a subject which I think should meet the approval of all the Templars around this district, I mean the three lodges, viz : The Ophir, Eureka, and Pride of Valley. The suggestion that I would propose to the approval of my fellow members is this: Looking at the fact that the public have durim: the year given benefits themselves for different objects, I think it is time now that the whole body of Good Templars should come out and club together, by giving at the end of July next, a grand concert and ball for the benefit of the Dunstan District Hospital. The object is an universal one and should have the support of all. Of course the place at which it should be held would be the good town of Ophir, being the most central, as well as having the largest and best building for the purpose. I have no fear as to the result if I only get the co-operation and approval of all the lodges. I hint that my suggestion will meet with support, and we carry it out.
