News has just been received that General Gordon is killed, he, having been stabbed either on the threshold of his house, or when on his way to the gates of Khartoum to ascertain the cause ot a great commotion there. It. is believed that the commander of the blacks in Khartoum betrayed General Gordon by opening the gates and letting in the Mahdi and his followers, hence the commotion that took General Gordon outs
