VINCENT COUNTY ELECTIONS.
For three of the lower ridings in the county—Mannherikia, Earnaeleu.h, DunsC.nr —Messrs J. Pitches, Macrinnis, and W. Fiaser have been i s elected without opposit.on. lor Maiakamii, Mr M. Simmon is in the fied in opposirion to Mr Sheppard, the old mem er. As to the chances of ei her candidate nothing is cenain, though from what is said, the old cand date, Mr Sheppard, is looks ( upon with the most f ivor. He is a young energetic man, and the libHe that has been seen of him at the council tible is deci iedlv in his favor. Mr S iiarnon, though a very oi l resident in the district, and whose name is well known, has never yet appeared as a public man. He has, however, a large circle of frien Is. ami it will be no great surprise if he should head the poll. For the northern riding Mr J. Dtronacb has heea returned unopposed for for Lindia rid inn ; as also was Ur McCarthy for Hawea. Through some mischance there were no nominations for L’lutha Riding, but it was the intention that Mr H. Tobin ghoul I walk in unopposed. For the Garrick riding Mr Anderson, a storekeeper, and Mr McKeizie. a representative of the miners, aie in opposition. A good deal of feeling is being expressed over this contest, aud the victor it is expee'ed will have to work hard to secure a majority.
