CLYDE CEMETERY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir—A few days ago 1 attended a .funeral and spent some time in looking around the cemetery, and from what 1 saw 1 think it does not reflect much credit on the Ceine’ tery Committee. Of comparatively new graves the mounds have been levelled with the surface by rabbits and dogs, which seem to have all their own way and delight in making havoc amongst the graves. -A ltot gether, the cemetery presents a most neglected appearance, which is painful to look at. Now, Mr Editor, why does this state of things exist; is there-no coni l mittee or no person in .charge of it ? If not, it is high time there was. The outlay of two or three pounds would prevent either rabhitts or dogs getting ia.au I making such havoc as that complained of. Kindly insert the, above in ihe next issue of your paper, and you will oblige, Yours .truly, • Observer. Clyde, May Ist, 1884. ~ ; , [We can fully bear out what “ Observer ” says respecting the state of the Cemetery, and can add that not alone is it discreditble, but it is absolutely disgraceful. The only remedy that presents itself to us is that a public meeting be held, whereat the Governor be petitioned to depose the existing committee, and be asked to elect another, to comprise such, gentlemen' as may be selected by tbe meeting ; and os delay will avail nothing, we wid suggest that a niei-ting be held in the Pniilic Library on S iturday evening, the 3rd. mst., at 7 o’clock; -Ed. D.T.J
