Cholera, small-pox, and measles are prevalent at Fiji. A little child, residing near Christchurch, was burned to death on Tuesday through its clothes catching fire during the absence of its mother. Two deaths and several cases ot typhoid fever reported in Invercargill. In the House of Representatives yesterday, the Minister of Lands in answer to Mr Fergus, said the Government would cooperate with local bodies towards abating the kea nuisance. The Postmaster General discountenanced the proposition for penny postage system for New Zealand, owing to great loss that would occur. At the Education Board to-day, the resignations of Jara»s McFadyen, Nevis ; and W. H. Arnold, Cromwell, were received. At the sale of Crown lands, Auckland, yesterday, the upset prices were doubled and trebled. The British Queen arrived at L radon with froz;n meat in splendid condition. The Victorian Financial Statement esti* mates the revenue at six millions and expenditure forty thousand less. The gaol enquiry sill drags along. The Constitution Act Repeal Bill, and Compul ory Vaccination Abolition Bill, both were thrown nut in the House yesterday.
