CAMBRIAN.
. I (FRuM our own correspondent.) June 4th. On Friday las', about noon, an accident occurred in the coalpit here whereby the proprietor, Mr J. R. Jones, was severely burne l aoout the 1-ft hand and arm, and also about the head and face. From the nature of the circumstances under which the accident occurre I it is fortunate th .t his injuries were not of a far more serious nature. l r appeals that Mr Jon's had charged a idast. and all the usu 1 precautions being taken lie ignited the fuse, wuen immediately a sudden explosion to >k place and he was enveloped in smoke and flame, stupefied by theshiclc, and almost blinded by the fire and sm-.ke, he still managed to get to a safe distance before the exnlosion of the blast took place. The explosion bv which he suffered having been caused by the fire from the fust—so far as he is able to guess at the cause—having reached a bag of powder from which the charge had been taken, and which had hy some oversight been left lying in such dangerous proximity to fire. I may state that this hag was used for carrying the powder from the magazine and on this occasion contained an unusually large quantity of powder.
