H\oiese, in another column, speaks as if with authority on the sanitary state of the town, and says remedial measures must be promptly taken or some dreadful epidemic will soon break out in our midst, even indeed it it has not already done so. That there are still a case or two of scarlet fever in the tow n we are prepared to admit, and also a case of typhoid—this was imported from another town—but whether they are to be traced to bad drainage, impure water, or any other local cause, *--e cannot say. That an improvement is much needed, w j won’t say nay, but we can scarcely think there are grounds for unnecessary alarm. Ihe local Board of Health arc endowed with power to deal with the case, and wo cannot do better than to stir them on to a little activity-.
