James 1 Carey and a number of others arrived in a car driven by tho prisoner. Fitzharris and i Ca-ey signalled tho approach of Mr Burke , and Lord Frederick Cavendish, and after the murder the assassins drove away. | Brady paid Kavanagh £3 for tho job, and gave him a set of harness. Kavanagh also drove Brady, Daniel Delaney, Kewly, and Hanlon to the scene of attack on Mr Field. Another witness deposed that he saw one of the assassins linger in Phoenix Park and inflict stabs on the prostrate bodies of tho victims. The prisoners appear greatly depressed. The expulsion debate in tho French Senate has been a Ijourned until Monday. Prince Jerome intends to pay an immediate visit to ex-Empress Eugenie. Denis Donovan disappeared mysteriously yesterday morning. On Saturday iik-lit ho went to his hotel, and at 1 o’clock got out of his bedroom, undressed, and has not been seen since. He has been in a despondent state of health some time, and is believed to have committed suicide by drowning himself iu tho river. Wellington, February 12. On Saturday his Excellency visited Worsens Bay for the purpose of inspecting the site for tho battery proposed to be erected there. A man named Michael Hnr'cy, engaged on the Manawatu railway works, was seriously injured bv an explosion of powder. Christchurch, February 12. ' At tho Police Court this morning, Joseph Cryer, for attempting to smuggle watches and jewellery from the barque Firth or Forth, was fined £25, and tho goods ordered to bo forfeited. Their valno is slated to bo £4OO. At 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon a'seven ‘ roomed house at Addington,- belonging to am (.occupied by Hermann Hoft, wn destroyed by fire. I A five-roomed cottage at Saltwater Creek , was burnt down this morning. The fire was caused by sparks from the kitchen fire. The building was insured for Ll5O in tho Standard, and the furniture for LBO in the Royal.
