THE LOWBURN RACES.

The second annual meeting of the Lowburn Sporting Club was held on the Friday the 13th inst. The weather was fine, but cold. A goodly number of speculators were present among the company, over £3OO being invested on the tntalisator alone The racing was good throughout, and resulted in the would-be “knowing ones” getting taken in on at least two events—the Hack Race and the Sporting Club Handicap. The totalisator declared a dividend of,LlB 18s on Gamecock in the former, and L 9 10a on Resartus in the latter. Maiden Plate, ot 10 sovs, for horses that have never won public money. Distance, one mile ; weight tor age. E. Lefevre’a Stake, syra (A. M’Kay) 1 H. Partridge’s Mayflower, syrs (Owner) 2 O. M'Kenna’s Little Foam, 3yrs 3 J. M‘Donald’s Mechanic, 4yrs 0 A good start was effected, Stake taking the lead, and Mechanic close to her. On their appearance from behind the teraaca Mechanic had fallen behind, and Mayflower had taken her place. Coming up the straight Partridge made every effort to bring Mayflower to the front, but without success. Time 2min. 34secs. Lowburn Cup, of 30 sovs. Distance, 1J mile. 6. Some little excitement was experienced during the running of the last race. It was a moat determined struggle from the start, and Juggler well deserve I his victory.
