ENTERTAINMENT AT ALEXANDRA.

On Friday night last, September 22, an entertainment was given i t the Town Hall, A’exandra, in aid of the funds of the Pres* bytian church, which may fairly be pronouno d the best we have had for a very long time. The Hall was crowded. The first part of the programme consisted of songs by Messrs Telford, Robertson, Thomson, and Mrs Aldred ; Messrsßaes, Austin, and Williams ; concerted' pieces by tie Glee Club, and an excellently rendered recitation by Miss Bringana. An encore was demanded in each instance and res, ended to in most. After the interval a farce was contributed by the recently rescnscitated Amateur Dramatic Club, called •• Look before you Leap.” Messrs Forrest and Williams were the 1 elder and younger Gubbins, and looked and dressed the .old miser and his half starved help to the life, they succeeded in keeping the audience in high rood humour the whole time of their being upon the stage- Messrs Ald r ed ami Willoox brought into prominence the minor parts of Wi kins the carjienter and Pounce the lawyer. Th'-ro w-s not the slightest hitch apparent fmm fist to last, and the unanimous verdict of the audience was that this was one of the best of the many good pet for- | mannes this club has assisted at.— Communicated
