An alarming outbreak of smallpox is reported to have occurred at Capetown. The annual overflow of the River Nile has commenced. Several companies are being formed in London with a view to the further development of the importation of New Zealand meat to England. A conference of Chinese merchants in London have urged the promotion of emigration to Cyprus, 1 Ootewayo embarks on the Ist September
on his return to the Capo. Ten thousand halos wore offered at tho London wool sale, and there was a 11 rm and active demand. Intelligence is to hand from the Thillipino Islands that'a terrible outbreak of [cholera is raging there. Four thousand deaths from the epidemic are already reported. The agitation among tho Irish Constabuincreasing- Great discontent exists among them in the Limerick and Dublin districts. Large numbers of tho Limerick police force threaten to resign if those who took a prominent part in the recent strike, are removed.
