BLACK’S PLOUGHING MATCH

Tub annual match of the Black's District Farmer’s Club was held on Mrs. Sinnamon’s farm, Ida Valley, on the 25th ult. . The day was fine and the attendance of the visitors and competitors very good, while the ground was in capital condiotion for ploughing, Host Gavin, of Blacks, had a refreshment booth on the ground and seemed to be doing well. Messrs Butler (of Spear Grass Plat), McArthur (of Wai K>ri Keri Valley), and Murphy (of Tiger Hill), officiated as judges, and their decisions were generally endorsed on the field. Tliis was the first occasion of the Club’s matches being held in Ida Valley, and the promoters are to be congratulated upon being so successful. All that is needed is a little organisation among the local farmers to make the Club’s matches equal it not superior to any in the interior of Otago, and it is to be hoped that when called upon in a short time to take the necessary' steps for carrying on the Agricultural Show, the farmers and all those interested will give their warm support to the matter. It is stated on good authority that a piece of ground suitable for show yards can be had for the asking. Appended is the prize list. Class |A., swing ploughs.
