Cetewayo, formally Km a; of the Zulu tribes, has arrived in London. Hopes are freely expresse I that he will bo reinstated by the British Government. Greek troops have ooeupied a Turkish village at Arata. An explanation has been demanded by the Porte. The editor of the Freheil has been senteneed to three months imprisonment for an article justifying the assassination of Lord Cavendish and Mr. Bii'ke. The bulk of the Sorrento’s cargo of meat has been purchased to provision the transports. The Lusitania’s meat is in excellent condition. Messrs. Purnell and Dillon have joined the Executive of the Labourer’s League, and agitation is consequently expected. Heavy gales have been experienced on the coast of Scotland, and 200 Scotch fishing vessels are missing. Intelligence has reached London from Ireland that the Constabulary are demanding an increase of pay, and threaten to strike unless their demand is complied with. It is now understood that if the House of Lords persists in opposing the Irish Arrears of Rent Bill Hie Government will introduce the Comity Franchise Bill, and when that measure is passed will ask for a dissolution of Parliament. Several meetings have been held at Natal to protest a.ainst restoring Cetewayo to the Zniit kingdom. H. M.S. Bacchante hasarived at Plymouth from her cruise in the Mediterranean with the two young Princes. Cetewayo is to visit Her Majesty at Osborne shortly. The majority of the fishing smacks reported missing, it is ascertained, are safe. However a large number have been lost, and numerous fatalities are known to have ocouired. The Limerick Constabulary have struck to the mini er of 300. The Belfast men threaten to do the same. The 1 ish Constabulary express distrust of the oifici d assurances given in the reply to their c- mplaiut ; and while protesting their undiininished loyalty to the Crown, ihey threaten to resign unless immediate redress of their grievance is conceded. The Justice-general has visited the Cork and Limerick depots and harangue I the men, but his efforts to convince them were quite useless. The Hon. Bussell Lowell, United States Minister in London, has again demanded from the British Government the release of nil American suspects detained in custody in 1, eland. President Arthur lias again urged the re lease of the suspects.
