London, July 31. The Khedive has sent a communication to Admiral Seymour, authorising the occupation of the Suez Canal by English forces. All French war vessels stationed at Alexandria and other Egyptian forts are leaving, Seymour has abandoned the proposed bombardment of Aboukir. A large force of British marines have been landed at Ismaila,
The Grenadier Guards embarked to-day, and the Coldstreams and Household Cavalry follow immediately. The Russian delegate at the Conference declared he would only attend meetings for the purpose of discussing questions of neutrality of the Canal, and it was feared the Conference was ended. He has now received orders from the Russian Government to rejoin the Conference, and take part in the proceedings. It is understood the Porte has now decided definitely to despatch troops to Egypt notwithstanding the statement that this course could only be adopted provided British troops withdrew. ' hive thousand troops embark tomorrow. Dervish Pasha accompanies the expedition. Twenty thousand Bedouins are encamped near Alexandria. The number of persons massacred in the interior is five hundred. Constantinople, August 1. The Porte, in reply to a communication from the Powers, state it can only proclaim Arabi a rebel after Turkish troops hav e landed in Egypt. The English Ambassador has notified to the Porte, that Kngiish Government require that Turkish troops sent to Egypt shall be subject to orders of Sir Garnet Wolseley, The Conference has agreed to a serious of proposals for ensuring security of Suez Canal.
Government are in possession of documentary evidence conclusively establishing the fact that Arab! Pasha has throughout been abetted by the Porte.
News has been received that a man named O’Brien has surrendered himself to the British authorities at Venezuela, South America, and has confessed to having been a party in the murder of Lord Frederick Cavendish and Mr, Burke. He has further disclosed the names of his accomplices in the crime.
O’Brien, who was arrested and who has ■confessed to having taken part in the assasination of Lord Frederick Cavendish and Mr Bourke, has asserted that two of the asaasnins received £2O for committing the feul -deed.
