ALEXANDRA.
f From our mm Correspondent ) Alexandra, August 2. On Friday last an entertainment in aid of the funds of the Alexandra Cricket Club took place in the town hall, which was comfortably Hilled on the occasion. The performance consisted of the farce entitled M The Virginian Mummy,” followed by an interlude by the Alexandra Minstrels, and ■concluded by a laughable nigger farce called the “ Sham Doctor. ”, The performance was a very, successful one judging by the repeated bursts of applause and laughter which took place during the progress of the pieces. It is not necessary to enter into a detailed criticism of the entertainment, father than to state that tbe actors wore all well up in their respective parts, and the whole affair passed off without a hitch of any kind taking place. The Alexandra Minstrels showed a great improvement on any of their former efforts, pwticularly iu the choruses, which were given in a style that showed they had carefully practiced the pieces beforehand. The gross receipts amounted to about £l7. The entertainment concluded with a dance, the brass band furnishing the music with their customary ability.
