THE ALEXANDRA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.—ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of this Church was held in the evening of the 15th of March, and was both successful and enjoyable. After tea had been taken in the Library Hall, which prsented a gay appearance with decorations of evergreens, fruits, and ’flowers, the people adjourned to the Church where the public -meeting was held. The Rev. Mr Lothian, minister of the congrelation, occupied the chair, and aftor a hymn by the choir, be gave a brief address on religion and education, and the benefits of religious meetings ns antidotes to worldly excitement.

Escccllent and appropriate addresses were also given by the Revs. R. Telford, of Roxburgh, G. F Clinton, Episcopalian Church, Clyde; James Blackie, of Cromwell; J. M‘Cosh, of Mount Ua ; and B. (Drake, Cromwell.

The congregational repo' ta were read by the Church Secretary, Mr E Finlay, and by the session clerk, M'r George M ‘Neill, and were both encouraging and creditable to the congregation. The musical part of the programme consisted of selections of sacred music including the Te Deum, by the choir ; and also, acnnp'e of appropriate songs by W G. Rees, E-q.. Galloway Station.

Votes of thanks wore moved hy Mr Simmon'h (mayor) to the speakers, singers, and the doners of fruit, gifts, and assistance to the tea meeting ; hy Mr John MKenzio to

the ladies for their successful efforts, and by Mr W. Theyers to the Chairman. After a hymn and the benediction, the meeting separated after an enjoyable and profitable evening.
