CAMBRIANS.

(From our own Correspondent) March’7, 18S2. .On St. David’s Day, March I. A picnic and sports were hold here. The morning was cloudy and threatening rain. It cleared up, however, before mid-day, and the weather in the afternoon was splended. There was a good gathering, a largo number of visitors being on the ground. The various events on the programme were well contested, and the handicapping in the races run was exmllcnt. Various games were indulged in during the afternoon, in fact every one seemed nut for amusement. A liberal supply of tea cake, sandwiches, etc. was provided. Tlie off dr was finished by a dance in the school room at night, varied by songs and recitations, the whole forming a very sociable and agreeable entertainment, which was earned on until about five o’clock

iu the morning. Mr Manns, Matakauui, supplied the necessary music, and Mr T. Wauklyn of St. Bathans, officiated as M. C, Altogether the promoters may be congratulated on the success of the gathering, every thing being carried ou iu a manner th t showed an attention to matters of detail on the part of the managing committee, which is not always found at such gatherings. The past fortnight, except last Sunday when it rained more or leas all day, hj is been warm and dry good autumn weather, and farmers around aro profiting by it. The supply of water for raining is still good, and minors arc all working full time.
