Beneath the rule of men entirely just The pen is mightier thsu the sword.
To. the advertisement of the sale of the runs we beg to draw special attention, as it icfers entirely to those in and on the boundaries of Vincent County There are reasons more than ordinary why notice should 'he directed to tho upset prices, as we find there is some considerable dilf-r----nce—in some instances, one third—between the prices published in the Dunedpi ‘daily papers and those published by us, and ours we note agree with tho general Government Gazette The lithographed map snowing the whole of the runs in Vincent County lies on our table, and wc shall be pleased tn go over it with intending purchasers, nr in fact any one who has the inteicst of the district at heart With the limited space at our command it would he quite impossible for us to enter into details of boundaries of the new Mins, or other -changes -made We may, however, note that the tipper part of the. Dnnstan Commonage from somewhere about Champagne Bill’s Creek is run ho 221n 5900 acres; that all the rest of the commonage from Alexandra and the whole of the ecu • tral part of Montree run is surveyed into sections, and so far as we can see is common grazing ground That the whole of run '224 -commonly known as BlaMs,
together with portions of runs 2CI, 223,
ami 223. or in other words the whole of p- within a mi'-e of Hills Creek township, is land reserved for settlement To make the matter clear the map must ho carefully scanned and we cannot do letter than reocomend the people to scan it Wo dont pretend to express an opinion as to the manner the runs have been sub-divided, but wo think on the whole none should have much room to complain
Tnnoruit an unforeseen accident wc are una' le io supply our customary supplement Fnm next week it will he issued as usual AN unwonted pruts of advertisements which came in at a late hour crushes put a lot of local and other mattet already in typo Eichardt’s hotel Queenstown is „• now illuminated with “ gasoline ” Au Inver- — — oargiil firm wo understand supplied the app--3 atus.

It may not he generally known (says a contemporary) that under the new Licensing Act which is now in force, it is neecssarv for the applicant for any license other than a packet, wholesale or conditional license, to lodge his application, setting out full particulars, with the clerk of the Licensing Committee for the district at least twentyone days before the meeting of the Licensing -Committee. He is also required to nlfix a notice of his intended application on the outside of the door of the principal entrance to his premises, and publish a similar notice three consecutive hays in a newspaper circulating in the district. Mtt Asil, on behalf of the Deep Lead Prospecting Association, Nasehy, has received a telegram from the Government that it is not proposed to ask Par lament to pass another vote in ai 1 of prospecting. There is no present likelihood of there being an Easter Volunteer demonstration this year, chiefly on the ground that Government has declined to accede to a request for a money grant in aid, and the Dunedinites refuse to shell oat. The Cromwell Argus says:—The newly ■erected punt over iho Cintha n -ar the Luggate, is now open for light tr ffi;.
