TO TRAVEL THIS SEASON, THE ENTIRE DRAFT HORSE “ROYAL DUKE.” The property of T1 imas Mee, of Blackstono Hilh Royal Duke will travel this season through Blacks, Tinkers, Diybread, Ida Valley, and St Balkans’ Districts. ROYAL DUKE is a pure-hred Clydesdale, . stands 16J hands high, possesses great strength of bone, firm action, beautiful symmetry, and is of a bright bay colour ; he also has proved himself a sure foal getter. Royal Duke won the first prize when a three year old colt in Dunedin, and the second prize against all comers at the Clutha. At the Agricultural Show, Dunedin, he also gained the prize as a three year old colt. One of his foals, shown in Tokoraairiro last year, gained the first prize against numerous cnmn'''itnrs. Royal Duke was got by Champion (well known to be the best horse imported to this colony), out of the celebnted mare Jessy, imported in 18G3, by Me-srs Emmery and Straglmn, from Tasmania. The same year she gained the Taieii Agricultural Society’s first prize for the best colonial-bred mare, and the second prize for the best draft mare at the Show, heating Mr Niu.mo’s black imported direct from Scotland, and the ful'ow ng year took prizes both in Dunedin and Taiert. PEDIGREE. Ben Lotncnd is a beautiful dark bay with black points ; was foaled 25th Eebtuary, ISG9; stands IG.) Imnds Idyll; sire, Sir Benjamin. Sir Benjamin by tire imported herse Ben Lomond. Sir Benjamin’s dam was imported from Scotland by Richard Brodie. Estj. ; Young Ben Lomond's dam, Blossom, was by Messrs (MTntosh's imported horse, Prince Charlie; Blossom’s dam by Mr R. Brodie’s imported mare Nell. This shows that Young Ben Lomond is bred from imported stock, both sire and dam’s aide. His stock have taken first prizes at the Blnefkin Annual Show 1873, 1874, ami D 75, against all comers. A one year old filly by him took first prize at Palmerston, in 1870. Ben Lomond took Hist prize against all comers at Blacks Annual Show, 1881 ; also did some of his stock take first and second prizes at the same show. Last year, a yearling colt, and a three-year unbroken filly charged bands at LSO each. These facts speaks for themselves. He is a splendid worker and a sure foal-getter.
