THE LIBERTY IN TROUBLE AGAIN. CHRISTCHURCH, Aco. 18. There was another row in the “ Liberty ” Office to day. Three men from Rangiora went there to day, and complained of a paragraph in the paper. The editor was not to be seen this time, but the intruders were not to be denied satisfaction, which they finally obtained by smashing a quantity of matter ready for publication to-morrow, and doing some other damage. In the row, one of the compositors was struck on the head with a galley, but was not badly hurt. The police appeared on the scene, and two of the offenders were arrested. There were six or seven men in the office at the time. Bail was allowed. August 19. At the Police Court to-day, Blackett (son of the Mayor of Rangiora), Hossack, and Sansom were charged with wilfully damaging type in the “ Liberty ” Office. On application, a remand was granted till next Tuesday. The present editor of the “Liberty” has resigned, and Augustus Munyard takes his place. The latter is a West Coast man, and stands over 6ft. high. More fun is now expected ! TIMARU, August 20. Last night a young man residing here proceeded to inflict bodily chastisement on the reputed correspondent of the “Liberty.” The fight was furious, but the “Liberty” man got the beat of it.
