The number of publicans’ licenses taken out on the 30th ultimo for Wellington City and country districts was 98.

At Wellington, on the Ist instant, a meeting of gentlemen interested in the export of frozen meat and dairy produce was held, when it was decided to form a Company, with a capital of L 23,000. The customs revenue for the quarter at Wellington was L 46,229.

The Customs’ revenue at Timarn for the last quarter show a large increase over last vea'. The receipts for the month were 1.1684.

The Customs’ revenue for the last quai ter at Christchurch was 1.50,914, 0s Cd.

At Auckland, it is rumored that a Chinaman has arrived there from the Thames suffering from leprosy. The Sanitary Inspector, however, has not been able to find him.

They were remanded, bail being allowed of LSOO, whi ih was forthcoming. An inquest was held at the Thames on the sth instant, on the body of a boy who was shot in a rifle gallery at that place. A verdict of “ accidental death ” was returned. The following are the particulars : —" The boy was looking on at the firing, when the proprietor, a colored man named Clements, playfully pointed a gun—an Americanpea rifle—at him, when it went off shooting the boy in the left breast.” Public feeling is very high on the matter, and probably something further will- be heard of the-matter. The general impression is that, the owner of the gallery should be held responsible.
