THE RECENT SALE AT ROXBURGH.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin.—ft is to ite hoped that the next sale of sections in the town of Ophir will be held on the ground, and thus give the people resident there an opportunity of becoming purchasers. By the action taken by the Government in selling at Roxburgh, it will prevent many from buying, and it is to be trusted that, if the same course should bo pursued in the future, the Government will think fit to give the public notice of the same in the journal that is supposed to contain all notices of a local nature, and not refer them for particulars to a Dunedin weekly paper which, when read by anyone tip-country, is not for the purpose of reading the advertisements, hut for matter of a more entertaining character. To ask a man to travel 100 miles for the purpose of attending a sale of Crown land situate in a township is monstrous, and it is to be hoped that •our member in the House of Representatives will take some action in the matter, and ascertain the reason of this gross price of injustice being done to a portion of his constituents. Further, it is to be hoped that you intend to take some notice of this matter, and by so doing you will be only doing your duty.—l am, ete., RESIDENT. Blacks, dune 27, 1881.
