I intended some day to do it” Ho professed his willingness to pay anyone whom ho should drop across. His wife and family were 100 miles up country. Ho bad cleared out of Wellington with L4GUO. Ho was then on his way to the Cano, and intended on going through tho States to lecture on the evil consequences of gambling and the disastrous results entailed on young men by their weakness for sweeps. Ho drew attention to the slightly pock-marked appearance of his face and in explanation said that on reaching Honolulu ho went ashore and interviewed tho King, with whom ho got gloriously drunk. He caught the small-pox, which was raging there at tho time, and was put in a pest-house, whore he was con lined for a month, lie asked Carlton to tell Ins Now Zealand friends that ho intended coming back and giving them another turn some day.
