' Owing to the famine which it is feared is impending in Russia, the prices r.f food generally, but especially of wheat, are rapidly increasing. Much alarm exists, and the Government threaten to transport some of the leading grain merchants for the manner in which they have raised the prices. Vienna, November 9th. A very heavy earthquake has occurred in the south-east part of Austria, causing fearful havoc at a town called Wagram. ■ Constantinople, November 9th. . The Sultan has telegraphed to the Great Powers, informing them that the surrender of Dnlcigno to Montenegro ia expected immediately. The Porta is sending farther reinforcl- - of troops to Dervish Pasha, who, to-
gether with Riza Pasha, has now left the neighborhood of Dulcigno. London, undated. The race between Laycock ami Hosmer 1 (the American sculler) on the Thames resulted iu favor of the Australian. The hotting at the start was two to one ou Laycock. Hosmer led for a mile and a quarter, when Laycock passed him, and kept the lead to the finish. The indictment drawn up against five members of Parliament, namely, Messrs Parnell, Dillon, Biggar, Sullivan, and Sexton, charges them with conspiring to prevent the payment of rant, the enforcing of legal process, aud the letting of farms ; also with exercising coercion and a general system of terrorism. London, November 12ch. The total quantity of wheat afijat for the United Kingdom is 1,970,090 quarters. A land agent has been murdered at Limerick Constantinople, November 11th. News has been received that the chiefs of the Albanian League, except those resilient in Dulcigno. have now promised Dervish Pasha compliance with his request that the cession should he made at once. Athens, November 11th. In view of the expressed intention of tho Government to maintain their demands for the rectification of the Greek frontier, additional troops are being mobilised, aud the army throughout is being placed on a war footing. London, November 12th. A landlord at Ballinrobe, in the County of Mayo, Ireland, has been ostracised by the people of the district, who are strong sympathisers of the Land League, and who rt fused to assist him with his harvesting. A number of soldiers, Orangemen, and volunteers, have,'however, gone to his aid, and are gathering in the harvest. Owing to the open hostility which is shown, however, by the people to the harvesters, thi latter are guarded by a largo body of troops, who have been sent to maintain order. Vienna, November 13th Further severe shocks of earthquake have been experienced at Agram, which has suffered most terribly. Half the town has been completely destroyed. Madrid, November 1 Gth. Some French monks when landing at Barcelona ami Alicuile have been mobbed to death by the populace. At St. Petersburg, owing to the pressure brought to bear by the Oove-um nt, a large number of bakers have lowered their prices, and the prevailing distress has been partly relieved. Rome, November 15th. Very severe storms, with heavy lain, have been experienced throughout Italy, and great havoc his been committed in many parts of the country. Constantinople, November IGth. The Turkish official, while engaged reading the order for the surrender of Uubigm to Montenegro has been shot.
