Thro - boys from the Auckland Industrial School were on the 6th instant charged with larceny. Two got a week and a flogging ; the other four mouths and a flogging. The stewards of the Victoria Racing Club have decided to disqualify Mata and his jockey for ever for dark riding in the recent races. Major Te Wheoro, M.R.R. is trying to raise a subscription among tho Natives to send him to England to see tho Queen in order to redress their grievances. A Christchurch telegram states that large nhmhersof men put on to the railway works by the Government dining t] le unemployed agitation continue to leave, having obtained more remunerative work .elsewhere. In Melbourne the action taken by Mr Gannson with regard to the reprieve of Nad is generally condemned. I . The tone of the Melbourne market for New Zealand oats is generally quiet, but very steady.
