BRITISH AND FOREIGN. (From Exchanges.) London, November 2nd. A sculling match took place over the usual champion course on the Thames to day, between Laycock, of Sydney,! and Hosmer, of Boston, America, for L2OO a side. The race resulted in a somewhat easy victory for Laycock by three lengths. November 3rd. Mr A. N. Walsh, a prominent member of the Irish Land League, and Mr Heady, private secretary to Mr Parnell, have been committed for trial on the charge of intimidation. An indictment against the land leaguers in Ireland his been lodged. The County of Cork has been proclaimed a disturbed district. November 4th. The trial of the Irish land leaguers (Mr Parnell and other Members of Parliament and the officers of the League) for conconspiracy, is fixed to bo held in Dublin, and not in l/mdon as was first reported. Mr Parnell at Dublin is pressing for the trial of the leaguers, and says it is evident the Government intend to delay the same as much as possible, so as to prevent attendance at Parliament. Sir Hercules Robinson, who has been appointed Governor at the Cape, has arrived in England. The Porte is sending further drafts of troops to tho districts of Epirus and Thessaly in view of possible hostilities with Greece over the rectification of the frontier. The Albanians still continue to resist their removal from Dulcigno, and have offered strong opposition to Riza Pasha’segcort when crossing the riverßagaina The Turks, however, deemed it advisable to avoid hostilities. November sth. The total quantity of wheat afloat tor Great Britain is 1,920,000 qrs. November 6: hj. Laycock, the Australian oarsman, beat Riley in a sculling match for L4OO aside easily. Tho Internationa! Regatta commences on the 18th instant. The races will be rowed in four heats, the legalta lasting three days There are seventeen entries for the various events. The Channel Squadron has been ordered to Ireland. The Irish Land League appeals to the people of Ireland to subscribe liberally to the defence fund. A solicitor entered an appearance in Court at Dndlm, ami demanded details of charges brought against tho Leaguers. Paris, November6ih. The execution of Decrees for the expulsion of Jesuits from France have been completed, and tbeir legality upheld. Constantinople, " November 6th. Dervish Pasha, who has been despatched by the Porte with three battalions of troops to Dulcigno, his arrived there, and is conferring with the chiefs of the Albanion League, and urging them to submit without opposition to the cession of tho town and district to Montenegro. Athens. November C hj. M. Cominourdourga, President of tho Ministry, is asking Parliament to-day to grant a credit vote for increased armaments, in accordance with the policy announced in tho King’s speech at the opening of Parliament. He declared that it would be suicidal for Greece to recede from the position she has taken up in regard to the rectification of her frontier. London, Nov,mil,ur S b. Meetings arc being held in ire and to protest against the trial of the Irish Land Leaguers. The Albanian chiefs have replied to the request of Dervish Pasha, that they should submit without opposition to the cession of Dulcigno. They state that they cannot agree to the cession, and will defend their territory with their lives. At St. Petersburg the trial of a number of Nihilists, charged witli having perpetrated the explosl m in the Winter Palace iu February last, has commenced.
