After two days’ trial, Nol Kelly has been found guilty, and sentence of death has been passed. There were no witnesses for the defence.

At Timaru. on the night of the 28th ultimo, the Mechanic.--’ Institute, together with the Queen’s II dl were burnt down.
On the 29'h ultimo a fatal railway accident occurred at E lendale Station under the following circumstances “It appears that just after the train from Invercargill to Clinton left the station, a woman named M ‘Nulty attempted to leave one of the carriages, and fell between the carriages and the platform, receiving such injuries that she died in a few momenta. _ A Sydney paper states that Sullivan, the New Zealand murderer, has been seen lately at Co l cargo, N SIV., situate some short distance from the Bcrmagui gold-field. Mr Cnrnom, who stopped tho special train at Glenrowan when the kellys were in possession of the town has been appoint--0 1 as as -istant at the Ballarat Central State School. The cause of his removal is, it was not thought, safe to allow him to remain among the Kelly sympathisers. Ilecently, in the Goulhum (N.S \V.) Assize Court, >.ne of the witnesses created some amusement by stating that he wrote a 1 tier which was produced in Court, and immediately afterwards adding that ha could not write. It is stated that the German warship now at Melbourne will visit Auckland at an early date. Sir Henry Parkes recently left Melbourne, and leached Sydney in 194 hours, the fastest time on record. At Timaru the customs revenue for tho month of October was LISGG, being an increase of L.TIS over corresponding mouth last year. On the 28th ultimo the Potomahana took away from Port Chalmers fur Melbourne 120 saloon and 55 steerage passengers.
A dead whale, 60ft. long, was found on the New Brighton beach, near Christchurch on the 26th ultimo
A recent Sydney telegram states that there is a great rush of passengers both by sea and land to Melbourne.
The work of floating the Soratais rapidly progressing. Bags of clay are being fixed along her bottom, and these are to he planked over. It is stater] that an attempt will be made to float her in a few days. The Customs revenue at Wellington for the month of October was L 15,140. The Customs revenue collected at the Port of Lyttelton for the month ending October amounted to L22.92D The Executive Council have commuted the sentence passed upon doe, the Auckland murderer, to imprisonment for life.

ifnoess. This is the first case in Auckland of a Celestial toper. Up to the 27th ultimo, 94,549 persons, including season ticket holders, paid for admission to the Exhibition at Melbourne. Not a single bed is unlet in any of the first-class hotels in Melbourne.
