We have been favored with a view of ii number of specimens of New Zealand an 1 ot her Colonial woods, also, of minerals, presented tothe Museum by W. N. Blair, Esq., oi.the Public Works department ; and we pu dish herewith list of the same in a tabul i-ed form, showing the weights of the van >us timbers when in a green state and w ion dried The information therein contained is of great public value, and is well w vrhy of consideration by contractors and builders. The whole collection lies on the table of the County Offices, Clyde, and is open for inspection during office hours. Subjoined is the list referred to:

In addition with the above named there are a number of specimens of wood polished and fine dressed, some Native and gome Australian, and amongst them are specimens of mottled kauri, puriri, cedar, blackwood, jarrah, iron bark, grey gum, yellow gum, and rewi-rewi. There are also several valuable mineralogical specimens, amongst which we observe specimens of Aberdeen and Peterhead granite, Carrara marble, marble from Caswell Sound and Milford Sound, and also from a locality between Cave and Albury, sulphur fr.on White island, chalk from Oxford in the Canterbury province, coal from Brun er, coke from Greymouth, shell conglomerate from Timaru, iron ore from Parapara, Taranaki, and a sample of iron manufactured from it.
