BAZAAR IN AID OF SAINT MICHÆL'S CHURCH, CLYDE.
The gift aueioii in ail of the funds of the above was hold in the Town Hall, Ciyde, on Saturday last, and proved an unqualified f-uece.-s. d’he Connnittac had j bean nvst umi ing in their woik of collect- | ing articles, and rhe crowded .stalls showed 1 how successful they had been. The hall was tastefully decorate 1, articles of eveiy description were to be found artistically arraii-e l on one large stall in the centre of the hall. The refreshment tabW was fairly crowded with-good things, and was pre-si-led over by a Committee of ladies. The amount of eatable-; c mum- d allowed v hat care had been taken by the ladies and genDemon who supplied them. None of the articles were disposed «>f over the counter ; it being con-ddere I advisable to dispose •■£ ever, thing by auction in the evening. The afternoon was cons-q ;«.nt:y taken up by , examining the goods, •■‘gmoably bit-aspersed with some vocal and instrumental music by ladies and gentle.non. The sale commenced about seven o’clock, Mr F *c!ie . oifieia ing as auctioneer. The hall was in- | conveniently crowded, and it was with diiiiculty one coni I move about. B.sides ; the artich s exhibited there wore several sheep, a calf, Links, gmus, tnii-i of coil, and other articles that could not be ace unmodified i". the hall. The bid hog throughout was spirited, evidencing that one and all had gone there thoroughly prepared to give the Church a su- s aulia! bene tit. Daring the sale, and to give the auctioneer a little breathing time, some songs were sang by a lady, Mrs Shaw, late Alisa Mastic, who received a perfect ovation, also by a couple of gentl men, and the choir <-f the Church coutii mted some part I music very creditably. During the evening I the refreshment stall was again liberally 1 patronised, and must have added consider--1 aMy to the fund.
