THE KYEBURN MURDER.
The inquest on the murdered woman was commenced on Friday, Only two witnesses were examined, and it was adjourned till Wednesday last. The funeral took place on Friday, and was attended by about 300 persona. Three Chinamen left the district on the morning of tho murder, and one of them was arrested in Naseby on Friday. Ho was taken to Kyeburn, and on his hut being examined, a pair of trousers with blood marks on thorn and a stone in one of the pockets was discovered. It is thought the police have a clue to tho murderers. Detective Henderson and Mr Commissioner Weldon both arrived on tho scene from Dunedin last Fiiday. Several other Chinese have cleared out of the district, bat the police are on their tracks. At the inquest, which was resumed on Wednesday, a verdict of “ wilful murder ” against soma person or persons, was returned.
We had arranged for telegraphic news of any further paiticulars of this crime, but os the message did not come to baud, wo presume the police are still in the dark as to who committed this brutal murder.
