Telegrams from Port Darwin state that the gold that was recently stolen from Southport has been recovered, and Trooper Ferguson arrested for the robbery. He was active iu seeking the supposed criminal. He discovered wrappers in a Chinaman’s garden 400 yards distant from the office, and arrested four Chinamen at the Post Office, Cooktown. While escorting them to Palmerston another trooper suspected Ferguson, and searching his house found the gold there.
