SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
(from our own correspondent.) Dunedin, Juno 24th. On the re-hearing of the coal lease application by Marie ami Holt, yesterday, the rVaste Lands Board decided to adhere to heir original decision, namely, give tho ;rouml to Holt. Wellington, June 24th. The debate on the financial proposals is lot likely to finish for some time, and the upporters of tho Government are dir[listed. They are ruinous to Otago and Canterbury, as the whole of the land fund s to bo impounded for the construction of oads and bridges in the North Island, .’lucent County will lose over 1.0000 per mnum, as subsidies are to be stopped, and . rate of two shillings will have to be levied nstead. There is no prospect of the Otago Central lailway w r orks being continued for tho i resent. If the Government proposals are carried, be works under contract in the County vill have to be suspended. No portion of Otago or Canterbury surilus land revenue is to be paid to Counties n tho interior. This means a loss of j2oot) more each to the Counties of Vin:ent, Lake, Maniototo, and Tuapeka. Mr Ireland supporting tho Government negatives by not voting on the question.
