THE CARANDINIS.

This popular troupe paid Clyde a visit on Wednesday last and played to one of the largest and most fashionable audiences that have assembled in the Town Hall for a long time past. The company number four besides tho chorus, and comprise the well known Madame Carandini and her daughter Marie, Miss Josephine Deakin, and Mr Walter Sherwin. Of Madame’s selections i by far the most telling was the ever popular duet “Trust her not, she’s fooling thee,” and at its termination was rewarded by a perfect outburst of applause. “Jessie, the Flower of Dunblane," was her next best effort. Miss Marie sang “ Her bright smile haunts me Still” with great feeling, and showed the careful tuition which her voice had received, and for which she received an unanimous encore. In Miss Josephine Deakin the company possess a young lady with a very powerful soprano voice, which showed to best effect in the ballads ‘‘ Beautiful Roses ’ and “In the Gloaming.” She also sang “Thady O'Flynn” very pleasingly, and was deservedly encored. In the “ Hunting Tower ” duet Mr Sherwin and Miss Marie showed to great advantage, and in the trio “ I’m not the Queen,” he was extremely good. Tho instrumental part of the entertainment was most admirably undertaken by Miss Carandini and Miss Deakin. The entertainment as a whole was sufficient to satisfy the most fastidious ; but the introduction of a trifle more of tho serio comic element would we think be appreciated by most up-country audiences. Owing to unforseen circumstances the company were unable to perform again in Clyde last night as advertised.
