At a recent meeting of the Dunedin City Council, a copy of resolutions, arrived at a meeting of tho representatives of the Counties of Maniototo and Vincent Counties was acknowledged and discussed as follows ; —Mr Carroll thought it was their duty to urge upon the Govoroment the necessity of complying with the requests embodied in tile resolutions received. He considered it essential that the railway should he proceeded with.
Mr Thomson agreed with the last speak • or, and moved—“ That the letter, with the resolutions, be referred to the Finance Committee ”
Mr Pish seconded themotion. lie thought it a matter of great interest to the City of Dunedin that tho railway should bo proceeded with. It would open up the country, and eventually open up a communication with the West Coast. It was wellknown that at Clyde there were fruit and wine, both of which might bo brought into this City if a communication could only bo made.
