ELECTION RABBIT TRUSTEES.
The election of Trustees un ler the Rahbit Nuisance Act, for the Vincent County, took place on Saturday last, resulting in the return of Messrs W. Fraser, R. Stewart, J. Cowan, H. F. Willmot, and J. Butler. No wiser step in our opinion has been 4 aken by the County authorities than that of causing the Act to be brought into operation within the Count}', and it is to be sincerely trusted that the elected body will carry out the Act in its true spirit and m-aning If the pest is so great as has been represented, we can have no fear on that head, as each of the elected have been particularly victimised, and that they will do their very best to stamp it out; the difficulty to contend against, however, will he from those who have not suffered ;to those we can only say—submit to the inevitable, and give the Trustees a fair tiial. To a many it may not be known, but it is a fact nevertbe’ess, that the loss to some of the runholders in the Southern portion of the County is equal to a third, and to the farmers equally as much, it must therefore be apparent to all that unless these properties are in a short time to become perfectly valueless, and the pest to increase, it is absolutely necessary that a something should be done to stay its increase.
