♦ Tiie representatives of Otago have done well. Mr Hay stands first at present ami has every chance of winning the first honour. He also scores a second honour in drawing the best came of the tourney with the Rev. T. E. Ash. The Rev. T. H. Ash, who was quite out of practice with first cla-s players, also scores two honours. He has drawn with Mr Hay the best game—a game not inferior to any played in the Paris tourney. He also scores the most brilliant game—one against Mr Newman. Otigo can therefore be congratulated upon the selection of her two representatives, who have tiken four honours out of six. The lighting has been very close. Mr Ash played twojqdendid games with Mr Jacob*eu, losing both, one at the 45th move and the other at the 70th The tourney will last a few more days. (Communicated.)
