LAND TAX ACT.
ASSESSMENT COURT, CLYDE. August 9th, 1579. (Before Jackson Keddell, Esq., Judge of Assessment Court.) (Adjourned from the 7th instant.) Dalgety, Nichols and Co.—Messrs Dewar and M'Phail.—Description of property—runs Nos. 235, 235b. 236, 237 and 238, and assessed at L 176.853, being at the rate of 10s, and the freehold at L2 per acre. The ground of objection—over assessment.
Mr E. J. Wilson appeared for the objectors.
MrJ. S. Dickie supported the valuation. Mr Dewar and Mr Loughnan having given evidence for the objectors, and Mr J. C. Chappie, as an expert, in support of the valuation, the assessment on run 235b and the freehold was sustained, and a reduction made on 235, 236, 237, and 238 of 2s. per acre, equal to about L 30.00!).
Messrs Howell and Loughnan. —Mr I. Loughnan, manager.—Description of property, run No. 245, assessed at 7s. 6d. per acre ; run No. 340 at os per acre ; run No. 240b at 10s. per acre, in all 135,000 acres, and 640 acres of freehold, L2 per acre. T'hesame parties appearing. After evidence the assessment on runs 245 and 240b was sustained ; run 340 was reduced 2s. 6d. per acre, and the freehold to 30s. per acre. J. G. G. Glassford.—Mr John Stronach, manager. The same parties appearing. The assessment in this case was sustained. ALEX \N DR A. August 12th, 1879. No objections.
