A SCENE IN COURT.
It is very rarly indeed that Judge Lynch manages to olTcet an entrance into the sacred precincts of the Supreme Court, and then to assert himself ; but ho proved • successful in doing both things this evening. It happened in this wise : His Honor had just passed sentence upon Hill for forgery, and the prisoner was retiring from the dock, when an elderly woman of notorious character, who had been sitting hard by unobserved, rushed over a d struck him severely two or three times with her parasol, accompanying her actions with shrill exelama nations, “ You have got your rich deserts ; you have got your rich deserts ! I commend the magistrate for his decision,” The Court gazed upon the scene with a countenance indicative of blank amazement, and the prisoner hastily sought a place of refuge ; while detective Jeffrey, having collected bis shattered faculties and resolved upon his course, struck a bee li"e for-the irate fe male, adroitly slipping his arm around her waist, and possessing himself of the weapon of offence. He ran her out of Court in about the quickest time on record. The Court heaved a sigh of relief, an I once more resumed its serious aspect, while prisoner, smarting under his punishment, was escorted to the region beneath the dock.Anckland Star, April 17.
