The adjourned in -eting of gentlemen who take an interest m the above was held in the Public Library, Clyde, on Saturday evening last. Mr Vm ent Pyke occupied the chair, and there was a numerous at-

tendance. The Secretary read the minutes of former meeting, which were adopted.

Mr Pvke said that he had received from the Central Committee in Dunedin twenty-, five copies of “authorised” subscript-on list forms He thought t hat as the circular had been addressed to him as County Chairman. they would be justified in styling tlnir coutribu ions as coming from the Vincent ( .'utility. It was the duty o; every one to subscribe Jo a fund of this kind so far as their means permitted. He had left a list with the Comity Cleik, so that the workmen connected with the Council might have an opportunity of su ■■scii'ning, and he was gla-l to say several had already done so He asked the names of any gentlemen who were willing to allow themselves to be placed on’hi ('omnifee, and also invi'ed the names of gentlemen in outstan ling dis tricts who would be willing to uudeitake the c tlh-c ion of subscriptions m their dis trie's. Several gentlenen then allowed their names to he placed on the Committee, the following being the complete list The Chairman and members of the Vincent County Council, and Messrs Simpson, G. Fache, B Naylor, Cambridge, Sims Clark, Hotop, M‘George, Lindsay, Holt, .Joss, Peters, Stephen Read, Robert Shepherd, and the Secre ary. Mr G. Fache said that Messrs Stephen Road and Robert Shepherd (Tinkers) an 1 Mr Greenback ((drybread) had authorised him to state that thev would collect subscriptions in their districts. Mr Pyke said that Mr M'Ginnis would collect ill Alex mdra and Earnscleugh districts.

Mr Simpson suggested Mr Pitches, for Blacks. It was unanimously resolved—“ That Mr B. Naylor be app unfed Treasurer, and that he open an account with the Bunk of New Smrh Wales.”

Several gentlemen then placed their nnm s on the list, and upwards of L2O was subscribe 1.
