CLYDE ATHENÆUM AND PUBLIC LIBRARY TRUST.
- O A meeting of the Trust was held on Tuesday evening last, the 18th inst. Present— VincentPyke, Esq.(Chairman), and Messrs B. Naylor, P. J Wilson, S. Welsford, A. Joss, and G Faciie (Secretary). The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence, inward and outward, was read, received, and adopted. Resolved “That Mr J. E Stevens he elected member of the Trust, vice Mr J. Hazlelt, resigned.
Resolved- “ That the Town Hall and Ath -naeum buildings, also the fixtures and furniture,and the library books, &u., be insured.”
Resolve'" 1 — “ That the terms offered by the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society he accepted ” The Chairman laid on the table printed catalogues of books received hy him from the Education Board, and said that as all claims ngai st the vote of last General Assembly for subsidy, and which had to be taken out in books, had to he made before the 31st inst, it was desirable that ail subscriptions in arrears should be at once collected ; also the catalogue be marked and immediate application made for books
The chairman and Secretary vo'unteered to collect the subscriptions in arrear.
A statement from 'he County Rate Collector or unpaid rates due in the town of Clyde, and assessed under the Municipal Act, was aid on the table
Thu Chairman explained that as the moneys contained in above statement was piact cally the property of the Trust ami at then- disposal, it was but just they should ileer'a as to what steps were to be taken with resp-ct to them.
The st.vement was examined, and a number of the names struck out, they being absent and their a Mr -sses not known Reso ved the Vincent, County Council to proceed against all whose rates are in arrear for the town of Clyde ” A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
