ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
An ordinary Meeting of the shove was held on Wednesday evening hist. Present --James Rivers. Eeo. ; Mayor, in the Chair, and Councillors Theyers, Mao Donald, Maekcrsey, and Robertson
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The inward correspondence, consist Ina of two letters from Mr W. H. Ha^cdt—one referring to his desire to purchase to 1 nei os of cronnd within the Municipality, and hu other, rcfernra to Law cases being takoa to Clyde for trial, were received.
The' outward correspondence was road and approved. Moved by Councillor Mackeney, seconded by Councillor Tbeyers :—That the Town Clerk be instructed to write to Mr Hasteilt informing him that the Council see no reason to depart from the terms stated in Hie letter formerly written to him in reference to the land which he had taken up, and that they adhere to their previous der vision ; also, that the matters referred to in his second tetter are outside of the jurisdiction of the Council, and they Consequently decline to interfere.—Carried. A discussion ensued with reference to the wraot'cabiiity of a supply of water being brought into the Town in pipes, but the inat' er was eventually postponed until information could be obtained as to the ap'Ximate cost. Tue usual vote of thanks to the Chair closed the meeting.
