CRICKET.

Alexandra School v. Clyde School. (By one of the Players). This match was played pa Monday, December 9, on the Alexandra ground. The day was not all that could be desired, as a strong gale blew the best part of it. The teams were in good order, having been practising for some time past. Messrs Cook and Parks kindly lent conveyances to take the Clyde cricketers to the ground. The Clyde team was captained by C. IT. Pyke, and that of Alexandra by A. Thomson. The Clyde Captain having won the toss sent his men to the wickets. They were not disposed of until they had run up the sura of 54, of which C. Hueston contributed 20, and W. Holt 18. Alexandra then went in and scored 41, and of that number D. Thom son made 24. They then adjourned for lunch, which was spread in the Schoolhouse. After lunch the Clyde boys went in for their second innings. They put 37 to their previous score making a total of 91, and leaving Alexandra to get 51 to win. The boys went in flushed with the confidence of success ;they succeeded, however in putting together only the small sum of 14 leaving Clyde victorious by 36 runs. Messrs Stevens and Aldred actel asumpires When the Clyde boys were mo .dug off home three cheers were diven them by their opponents. Ondarliving at Clyde three cheers were given for Mr Cook W'ho had so kindly driven them. The -warmest thanks of every member of our team is due to the people of Alexandra for the kindly treatment of us, and hope on the return match to be able to treat our visitors with equal liberality and kindness.
