MOUTERE RUN, No. 221. AND CAR. GILL AND ANDERSON'S RIJN, No. 300.

The following letters respecting the settlement of the above runs have been kindly placed by the County authorities in our hauls for publication, and are requested to state that sketches of the proposed mode of survey are to be seen at the County Office, Clyde ; a tracing of the Moutere run is also to be seen at the office of this paper, Wellington, 11th October, 1878. Sir, I enclose, herewith, a sketch showing the land to be opened for settlement on Run No. 3(59, and the proposed mode of survey. The Chief, Surveyor has been instructed to push 'on the survey with expedition. I would suggest that this and the sketch of W out arc should be conspicuously posted in the County Office, and that the public should be informed through the local Press that the sketches may be inspected thereat. Sir, — 1 enclose herewith a letter from the Minister of Lands, stating that an area of 17,000 acrer will he surveyed for settlement on Moutere Run, No. 221, together with a sketch showing the proposed mode of survey. Sir, —Referring to your communications on the subject of opening lands on Run No. 221, Moutere, for settlement, 1 have the honor to state that an area of 17,000 acres, as per accompanying sketch, will he surveyed and opened for selection as soon as the necessary plans for public inspection can be prepared. From the sketch you will see that it is proposed to survey the slopes of the Dunstan Range into sections of fmm about 1800 acres to 3000 acres each, and to ran the boundaries so as to include high and low country within each section. On the terrace flats the sections will he about 390 acres each. The land will be offered to selectors partly on immediate, partly on deferred payments, and partly on agricultural lease, I. have the honor, etc., Robert Stout, Minuter of Lands.
