THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND.

The Home News, referring to the Australian cricketers, says, “ It becomes more and more plain that Australia’s strength is mainly in bowling and fielding. As to the lormer, Spofforth’s skill is extraordinary. He appears to bo one of those players who supplement tremendous speed with the astutest and. coolest,of minds. It is true that ho is not always in the best * form,’- and when oil his play his bowling gets handsomely knocked about ; but then his team can replace him with others little less effective than himself. _ In fielding, the anility of the Australians is quite wonderful. Their batting alone appears their weak point, and perhaps this may in the long run bring them and their opponents nearer together.

_Tho correct scores in the drawn match between the Australians and the Lancashire Eleven was as follow :

The Australians in their first innings made 140 ; and in their second, 47, with no wickets down.

Lancashire made 97 in their first innings, and 102 in their second. ’
