Sir, —As I have distributed about the district some American Sugar Trough Gourd Seeds, I beg you to give through the columns of your paper some description of the same. —1 am, etc., W. H. Hastedt. Alexan'ra, July 16, 1878. [The following we extract from an American paper “ The Gourds grow by the acre, to hold from 4 to 5 gallons each, and I exhibited one at the Agriculturist office that held eleven gallons. They make the beat of nest boxes for the poultry house, and are valuable for many household purposes. Wo use them for salt, egg, and snap dishes, lard cans, etc.—W. F. Brown, Ohio.”— Ed. D.T.]
