trious class of settlers in a very short time. At the present time there is not a single section of land open for settlement in the district. Wo have the honor, To remain, Yours, etc., WilliamTiievers, William Noble. Moved by Mr Paget, seconded by Mr G. N. McDonald That the report of Messrs Theyera and Noble be adopted, and that those gentlemen bo thanked for the trouble and expense they have been at in this matter.—Carried. Moved by Mr Simmonds, and seconded by Mr Hansen—That having heard the report of Messrs Theyers and Noble read re land for settlement, that this meeting take immediate steps to get 10,000 acres of this land thrown open for settlement under the agricultural lease system, and that a Committee be elected to carry out the object by forwarding the wishes of this meeting to the Waste Lands Board.—Carried. Moved by Mr Ryan, and seconded by Mr Lett—That Messrs Theyers, Noble. Samson, Simmonds, Forrest, Robertson, Boresford, and Chappie be elected as a Committee to carry out the object of this meeting. —Carried. The Chairman expressed his regret at not having been present at the previous meeting, as he thoroughly believed in giving the people land for settlement wherever and whenever the people icquired it. He fully endorsed the report in every particular, more especially referring to the land on Moutere Run, and held that all the land from the Wia iveri Keri Creek to St. Bathans, under the Dunstan Range, was fit for agricultural purposes, and he was convinced that if the people were only true to themselves the whole would bo occupied for that purpose before many years had passed away. [The resolutions being so specific there was no room for comment; the unanimous opinion of the meeting, however, was that every effort should bo made to get the substance of the report carried into effect.] A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the proceedings.
