—o—(from our correspondent.) Dunedin, May 16. (Star, Special, Sydney, May 15.) Messrs Miohio and Vogel, the Agents General for Victoria and New Zealand had a meeting re Cable, and agreed to the practicability of the plan which was laid before the Cable Conference. They propose that the Colonies should purchase all the Lines at a cost of L 1,700,000, and duplicate Now Zealand communication by a Line from Tasmania to New Zealand at a cost to New Zealand of L2oo.ooo—the Conference was favorable to the plan. The Torres Mail at Cook town brought four parties of Chinese for Now Zealand. There are terrible accounts from China, the traffic in human llesh continues largely. By a cyclone in Chinese waters SOOO Chinamen were killed. At Port Darwin, Captain Robertson and his brother have been killed by the Natives. Terrible famine and fires have occurred in Manilla, and the wdiole of the crops am affected. Thousands of people are dying. Russian war vessels are sailing near the Manilla. English war ships have left American Ports under sealed orders. The Cable works badly. The crew of a vessel, named the Swan, on her voyage from Cookstown to New Guinea, mutinied, landed the Captasn on Savage Island, and proceeded on the voyage.
